My practice explores slow, labour intensive, often repetitive ways of making. Rhythmic, mindful actions which can allow the mind to settle and open new ways of seeing… of being.

I stitch tiny marks which evolve into their own formations. I create simple vessels of porcelain and paper. Delicate and fragile, all unique and imperfect, beautiful as singular items but also able to come together to form collective gatherings. I steam bend wood to form fluid lines as expressions of unseen but felt flows of energies which create dynamic interwoven connections.

Making in this way allows me to find stillness and quiet in a loud and hectic world. It is a way to access other energies which lie beneath the surface.

With all these materials I am looking at ideas of movement and stillness, the singular and collective. Investigating the relationship between the tiniest details and how those connected pieces flow together to form a cohesive whole. I am exploring how each individual part sits in relation to the next. These investigations are influenced by research into Sacred Ecology, Indigenous systems of knowledge and Eastern Philosophies.

Time, Care and Ritual are integral to the way in which I create and I hope that these elements are actively present in the finished work.

 In creating a space within which an audience is invited to engage and participate.
